Be the best you this fall!

We are all so different. I love the fact that our creator is so creative! With so much out there pushing trends, fashion, and lets not forget achievement, it’s really important to not feel pressured in to conforming in to something we’re not. All of us want to fit in, be accepted and at the same time express who we really are. The start of the school year is a great time to wipe the slate clean and start the season with a fresh perspective of who you are and what you want to become.

Goal setting is a great way to get inspired and stay motivated. Write down your goals or ambition for the season. Post them where you can see them daily. Personally, I use my bathroom mirror as if it’s a white board. An EXPO marker wipes off easily with window cleaner.

Keep a personal calendar. A lot of times our parents keep our calendars of activities and appointments. Make an effort to take on that responsibility yourself. Add your friends and family birthdays, sporting events, and special anniversaries. It’s not easy at first, but you’d be amazed how great it makes someone feel when you remember that special day, or how suddenly good you feel being thoughtful and overall more responsible and efficient with your time.

Identify your favorites. Whether it’s a person, something in our closet or a drawer, or stuck on a wall, or in a photo. We all have our favorites. They represent the things we love and enjoy. Surrounding yourself with your favorite things keeps things positive, and can often times bring a welcomed smile or comfort in the stress of the day.

Give yourself permission to step out of the box. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Whether its friends, food or fashion, or football (yes, I said football!) you won’t know you like it until you try it! Be fearless and try a new hairstyle, a new outfit combination, or meet a new friend. You may be surprised at how much you discover about yourself, unleashing new potential and confidence, just by trying something different.

Whether its through fashion, our faith, the arts, athletics, and/or academics, we are all gifted so differently. Expect yourself and others to express themselves unique to those differences. Embrace who YOU are this fall, and make the most of school year. Only you can be you!
