Exfoliation
How important is skin exfoliation? Extremely important! In fact it is one of the most important cleansing techniques you can perform on your skin. So how do you know if your skin is in desperate need of exfoliation? Take a piece of clear tape and place it on your forehead. If you remove it and you see tiny particles of skin stuck to the tape, then you are in desperate need of exfoliation because it removes dry skin cells.
Exfoliating your skin will help resolve a number of annoying skin problems such as blemished skin, post-break out red/dark marks, clogged pores, and those who desire healthy glowing skin.
There are two types of exfoliators.
First there is the chemical exfoliator. These are your facial mask and leave on exfoliators. A trick to making your own is simply crushing a papaya and applying it to your face. Try products like St. Ives, Neutrogena, and Olay.
Second are the physical exfoliators. These are the exfoliators that require the use of a facial brush or finger tips. My favorite is the St.Ives Apricot scrub, or Tea Leave scrub.
So, ready to exfoliate?
1. If you have long hair pull it back into a ponytail.
2. If your using a facial brush, wet the brush and apply a dime sized amount of exfoliate to it. If using you hands, wet your face first and apply the same amount to your finger tips.
3. Place your brush or finger tips on your face and begin rubbing in a circular motion on your face for about one to two minutes.
4. Rinse and enjoy your healthy glowing skin. It is important when exfoliating to not over exfoliate because it could possibly cause your skin to be over dried and irritated.
Three to four days a week is ideal for gentle exfoliation. Enjoy your skin!
