Jessica Joy Rees

A TRUE BEAUTY

Jessica Joy Rees is a young lady that is truly an inspiration and our definition of what true beauty is! This girl is so beautiful inside and out and has such an incredible heart! We interviewed her and her Dad and here’s what they had to say! So inspirational!

UB: Who inspires you and who are your heros?

Jessica: My Swim coaches, Parents, and other kids I know who are fighting cancer. The Doctors also because they are helping so many kids; They are really nice and always upbeat, they encourage me a lot.

There is this boy called Cade he is 5 years old and fighting a different type of brain tumor, he’s so funny and positive. It’s fun to see him smiling. He perseveres and makes the best out of the situation.

UB: What is your company JoyJars?

Jessica: Basically, we make jars and we give them to kids at CHOC, we also give ones to people who order them. We package them and ship them out.

Dad: It’s not a ministry its a public charity. NEGU stands for never ever give up. We have made over 1000 jars. Not all have gone to kids but also companies for other events. For example, City of Hope requested 50 jars for kids in their college unit. Children’s hospital LA has requested 20 jars. We are just trying to stuff a lot of joy jars into the garage. haha.

If you watch the CBS news clip really captures the essence of the jars.

UB: What are your goals with NEGU?

Dad: When we asked Jesse what she what she want’s for NEGU, she said she wants to help take care of others fighting cancer by providing care. She wants every kid fighting cancer to receive a jar and be encouraged by it. To tell them NEGU!

UB: How did you come up with the name NEGU?

Jessica: Someone posted Never ever give up on my Facebook page. So dad just shortened it and it just stuck.

UB: What does it mean to you?

Jessica: Perseverance, stay strong.

Dad: It’s wrapped around her favorite bible verse which is Phil 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

UB: What is your favorite fashion item?

Jessica: My fashion favorite is the pura-vida bracelets. They are an everyday must! I also love to watch project runway!

Dad: ”We just had a fashion show at the golf tournament.

Jessica: The clothes were cool, some were very interesting. Everything that was made was made out of old linen table clothes, the designer is very creative with how she drapes and dresses the models with the material.

UB: What does beauty mean to you?

Jessica: Being loving and kind, being true to who God made you.

Dad: ”As parents we are encouraging our kids to live everyday in confidence. With compassion for other people. That is what we encourage our kids in. Not to compare themselves with others.

UB: What advice would you give to the girls of UnleashedBeauty?

Jessica: Live with hope, joy and love everyday.
